After a terrible nights sleep (I am not adjusting to the time difference, as I keep telling Kath I am living in a timezone of my own), we got up early (not that early compared to what we were used to at home) and got dressed for our daytrip to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon.
We grabbed some breakfast from the hotel lobby then headed over to Aria Hotel for our tour pick up. We were picked up on time, which was nice, and were the 3rd group in the small bus.
We stopped at a few other hotels picking up guests before heading out of Vegas. In total there were 12 of us (incl 3 children). We went straight out to Hoover Dam via Boulder City, which is like a city captured in the past. Apparently they are the nicest people in America though.
After about 45mins of driving we stopped at Hoover Dam. The Dam is massive, we were on the bridge near the dam and it was very very high. It was quite cool, so once we had a look and took a few snaps we headed back to the bus.
Once the rest of the group arrived we continued on our way out to the Helicopter base for our Grand Canyon tour. We were split into 2 groups, we were with the family with 2 kids. Kath and I got to ride in the front of the helicopter out to the Canyon. It was a good flight out there and when we landed went to a viewing spot then got to have some champagne. The champagne was actually quite nice.
After about half an hour we made our way back to the helicopter base (via a petrol stop). This time Kath and I were in the back (with the kids parents) and the kids were in the front.
We arrived back at base and then went for lunch at the rest stop that was near the base. We had standard cheeseburgers and chips. They were pretty decent. There was a fair bit of Area 51 memorabilia there and Kath and I had some snaps with some cut out alien pictures.
We then made our way back into Vegas.
When we arrived back into our hotel, we were pretty tired, so we hung out in the hotel for a little while and then went out to dinner. Dinner was very average, Kath had nachos and I had mac and cheese. Quite underwhelming.
After dinner we were full and tired so we headed back to the hotel for an early night. There was a Harry Potter marathon on which we watched a bit of, the movies over here are different to the ones they show at home!
Our stats for Sunday are as follows:
Run – nil, early morning for the tour
Steps – 10,936
Weather – clear skies in the morning, overcast in the evening. Cool patches throughout the day.
